Today’s Attitude of Love: Self Forgiveness
All of us have screwed up. And sometimes those screw ups cause us much pain and pain to those we care about too. And while often times we get forgiveness from God and those we hurt, finding forgiveness for ourselves, well can be very difficult.
If you are like me, you have a big movie playing in your head and that movie get stuck on reply. Replying all the things we have done that are wrong or that have hurt people. Well today is the day that movie needs to stop.
You see, that replaying movie in your head is the enemy trying to deceive you into believing you are not forgiven. You see, when we come to the Cross and ask God to forgive us and we repent be turning away from that sin, we are forgiven. That sin is washed away by the blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ. It does not matter what that sin is…. It is forgiven. But we tend to hold on to that sin as I the blood of Christ is not enough. And if that is the case, there would be no reason for the cross and Jesus dying on it. And no reason for Him to conquer Hell. And no reason for Him at all. You see, the truth is this, we find it easier for others and God to forgive us than we do for forgiving ourselves. And that my friends, well… It’s a lie straight from the pits of Hell. Satan wants you to hold on to those sins and carry around that baggage for as long as you can. He wants you to believe you are nothing more than that mistake. He wants you to be held back from Gods blessings by making you think you are not worthy. And he does that by replaying that old movie over and over. For if he can keep you focused on that, than there is a slim chance you will focus on God and all He has for you. But here is the truth…. You are a spotless perfect creation in and through Christ. You are a new creation. And you are forgiven. So stop holding on to that old crap and move on. Forgive yourself as Christ paid the price for you. There is nothing more you can do than what he has done for you.
Holding on to your old forgiven sin is like walking through a circular door at the bank and never getting out to receive you cash. You just keep going in circles. You are the way out but you don’t believe there is anything in your account in the bank. When in fact, God has made a eternal deposit that is waiting for you to cash in on. Do you see what I am saying?
Stop right now if this is you! Take just a moment and pray and than forgive yourself as you have been forgiven. God has big plans for you but you will never be able to get to those in the false chains that bind you. You are free! Live like it, act like it and proclaim it today.
If anyone belongs to Christ, there is a new creation. The old things have gone; everything is made new! (2 Corinthians 5:17 NCV)
