The Misconception of Christianity

The Misconception of Christianity is sad, for a lack of better words.  I am not a scholar, but I know one thing that needs to be corrected.  Salvation is about God’s Grace, not laws!  There is no other way to put it… A King coming off His throne, to become a man, to suffer and die, for my sins… Is nothing less than Grace.  So where have we as a church gone wrong?

Many see Christianity as a religion and it was never intended to be about religion, it is intended to be about LOVE and a RELATIONSHIP with our creator.  From the very beginning of creation, we as humans, have never been able to keep the law of God.  Yet, He still loves us and loves us enough to send His One and Only Son, Jesus, to die for our sins.  Where is the religion in that?  Jesus’ death on the cross, shows His passionate love He has for us as His perfect creation.

The other misconception of Christianity is laws.  While we have commandments God has given to us, there is only one true commandment that we should follow… And Jesus tells us, Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. ~ Matthew 22:36-38 Do you know why I state that this is the one true commandment?  Simple, because if we are truly honoring this commandment, by loving God with all our soul and with all our mind, and with all our heart, then the other commandments just fall into place. They have too!   You see, when we truly surrender our will, for the loving will of our Father, we have a different mindset, we have a different perception of the people around us, our goals become His, and our hearts are transformed and that is where true change within us comes from.

Love is the key to Christianity, not laws, not works, not good deeds, and not being perfect.  God wants nothing more from you than love.  He wants you to want Him, He wants you to love Him, and when that happens, He pours His love into us, so much so, that it overflows out of us.  That is when you see Christianity for what it really is and for it really means… LOVE.  Jesus was the perfect example for us.  Every time Jesus was faced with a choice to love or judge, He chose love.  Time after time, the Pharisees (Religious Scholars who knew the laws inside and out) tried to trap Him, He showed love and compassion.  Every Time!

So today, if you have been contemplating Christianity, I pray that you will see it for what it really is about… Love! Christians are not perfect.  In fact the only difference between us and the lost, unbelieving world, is we have a Savior!  You don’t have to be a scholar, you don’t have to be perfect, you don’t have to do anything but love the one who first loved you!  That is what makes being a Christian great!  It took me a long, long time to realize that I was not going to ever be perfect in my Christian walk, and that playing church was just for fools. Once I realized that I stand on His Grace and that His blood covering me is all I really need, then the pressure was off, and the bondage chains of lies from the enemy were ripped off!  I was free!  And my heart and my will were transformed.

If you are a Christian, you are free too!  You have been bought and paid for with the blood of Jesus Christ!  That is all you need.  Are you still searching for meaning, are you still searching for love, are you still searching for anything?  If so, I offer this to you… Look up!  You will never be happy or content in this world searching for worldly treasures.  The void that you feel, is the void of Love!  Trust me, I have tried it all!  I promise you with everything I believe in, that if you will obey that one Commandment, and just trust and love Him, He will pour out His love in you so abundantly and you will forever be changed.  As Christians, we have a choice too.  We can choose to continue believing the lies of Satan, or we can stand on the promises of God!

    Brad,
You make a great point. People reject “Christianity” without ever having seen the real thing. If I thought Christianity was the religion that most of the church presents, I’d reject it, too!
The reason for the decline of Christian influence in the West is not due to the changes in our culture (the Romans were pagans too) but because the Church has lost its real message.

  3. This truely is the greatest and most important message for my life and all living creature!
Thank you for reminding me 🙂

    It is T H E GOSPEL

This should be the only thing we talk about
the only thing we think about..

In fact the only task we have as man, as Creation of the Great I-AM,
is to RECEIVE HIS LOVE INTO OUR HEARTS !

…and everything else will go automatically.

    Wow, AMEN

  6. This article says it plain and simple, that God loves Christians but that they are not seeing His love. The video is an excellent portrayal of that love.

  7. Jutta says:

Amen! What else can I say? 😉

  8. Thank you for this excellent and true article, Brad.
Alot more people would want to be Christians, if they knew that it was about receiving and giving more love.
Love heals everything, emotionally and spiritually ❤
