My Walk with Jesus Vol. 26 “Jesus, the One & Only”

Christ-on-the-cross  "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." ~ John 3:16

This verse is one of the most common verses used today.  You see it at sporting events, pasted on a poster boards in the crowd.  But what is it's true meaning?

There are many different religions, and many different denominations within the Christian religion.  It is very important to really read this verses for exactly what it is… "the very pathway to salvation".  You see, while there are many religions that point to a "God", there is only one true living God and that God sent His one and only Son, Jesus to earth to be the atonement for our sins.  Notice in the verse and underline the word Only.  He did not send an Angel, He sent His son.  Not to get to graphic, but it is very important that you understand the meaning behind this.

Many of us are parents.  Now as a parent, imagine your son walking the earth being mocked, laughed at and judged with every step they take.  Now imagine you calling your son to lay down his life for ALL humanity and their sins.  Imagine letting him be beaten beyond recognition, carrying a cross (that weighs a ton) up a long winding hill, being wiped all the way with tassels of thorns.  Only to be striped naked and hung on a cross before the entire town cheering "Crucify Him".  Until finally, right before he takes his last breath, he looks at you and says, "please forgive them, for they know not what they do".  Only to then go to the pits of Hell to endure all the worlds sins, past present and future.  Hard to swallow?

You see none of us will ever be in that position as a parent, but we must be able to relate in order to truly understand the meaning behind Gods love for us.  There is only one way to Heaven and that is through Jesus, Gods one and only Son.  He walked this earth perfect, tested and true, He did it all for you.  There is no work you can do, doesn't matter how good you think you are, and it doesn't matter what you hear, they only way to Heaven is through Jesus, and confessing Him as your Lord and Savior.  For the Bible tells us, "Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the father but through me." ~ John 14:6

By accepting Jesus as your Lord & Savior, you are made perfect in Gods eyes.  For you have been covered with the blood of Jesus Christ, that was shed on the cross for your sins.  And you will not perish, but you will have eternal life.  There is no other religion that offers anything close to that promise.  In fact, there are many "Christian" denominations that still believe we are saved by works… my dear friends, your deeds do not save you!  You are saved only by confessing Jesus Christ as Lord and being made new by the power of the blood.

It is my prayer that you, no matter what you might have heard, no matter what you believe, to examine what is Truth, and that is Gods Holy Word.  This is the most important decision you will ever make and one that could save you from eternal damnation in hell.  So if you are not a believer, or maybe you have been working on trying to be good enough to get to Heaven, come to the cross today.  Come experience the Gods awesome Grace, Mercy and Love He has for you.  You can come today by praying this simple prayer below… It is my prayer that you will come to know Jesus, the One & Only!

"Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. ~ Romans 10:9-10 (New International Version)
