My Walk with Jesus Vol. 21 “Gay Marriage in the Church”

For years our nation, among others, has had a battle with the issue of same sex marriages.  Should they be legal?  Should they be a recognized union?  Should "Partners" be able to get insurance benefits.  For years the Body of Christ has quietly pulled back the so called "line in the sand".  Not necessarily giving in to the fight, but not really standing up either.  Our nation has had gay marches, gay rally's and even protest to try and legalize same sex marriage.  Some states have even given into these rights, making it a legal union.  While all this was taking place, we as Christians, have been silently watching this mess unfold.  Remember not so long ago, when it was morally wrong to be gay… well it still is.  However, our nation has fallen under the notion, the everything must be "Politically Correct".  Well my friends, take a good look around at what "Politically Correct" has gotten us.

Now a very disturbing news report comes out that the Presbyterian Church is considering recognizing gay marriage as a union and also performing services for those unions.  (This
week's General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) will
consider redefining marriage to include same-sex couples.) Courtesy of KCBI Radio.

This is where we, as the Body of Christ, must stand on the Biblical principles and Biblical Truth of the Word of God.  While all of us have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God, (Romans 3:23) the church has a higher standard and is fully accountable for leading the people towards the path of righteousness.  While there are many denominations, mainly for our different interpretations of the Word of God, none of them translate the Bible as it being lawful for two people of the same sex to have unions.  The Bible clearly states that we are to honor marriage in Hebrews 13:4 Marriage should be
honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the
adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
It even tells us in Leviticus 18:22 Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable. And Paul plainly states it in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 ~  Do you not know that
the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived:
Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male
prostitutes nor homosexual offenders; nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Now that you think I am bashing all the gay men and women out there, allow me to explain what the Body of Christ (the church) should do.  I firmly believe Gay Marriage should NOT be recognized as a marriage union, nor should the church partake in the ceremonies of Gay Marriages.  I do believe gays should be very welcome in churches.  I don't believe however,  there should be Gay Churches… As I stated before, the church should be held to a higher standard and leadership to be able to provide proper Biblical guidance for the congregation, all to which bring God Glory.  While we as Christians like to set on our high horses and judge gays or any other sinners or non-believers… (don't say you don't, because we all have) the Church, has been and always will be, a hospital for sinners… ALL sinners.  So while we should not condone same sex marriages, we should continue to love them as Christ loved us.  Since Christ did not just die on the cross for my sins alone, I have no right to judge someone else by their particular sin.  My sins were just as dirty and demeaning as theirs.  However, by embracing them in the action of love and kindness, we draw them nearer to the one who has the power to change their hearts, minds and lifestyles…Jesus!  After all, we are supposed to be a reflection of God and His love.  And while we may not like or care for the lifestyle of gays, we are really no different… we are all sinners.

Now you might say, "there are some out there who are gay Christians" That may very well be, and I can not judge another mans heart, for only God knows the dwellings of ones heart.  I can say, that we should lovingly, confront that sin, as we would any other.  Sharing with them, the Biblical Truths of the Word of God, so that they can clearly see for themselves, that it is in fact a sin, they can began asking for forgiveness and began the healing process.  We must be careful however, as the Body of Christ… that when challenging any of these "Hot Topics", that we always remember to do so in Christ like love… We should not beat them over the head with a Bible saying, "sinner, repent!"  We should, however, always speak with Biblical based truth and scripture.

In closing, I would like to make it very clear.  Gay Marriage has no place in the church and Gay Marriage should not be a recognized union.  We must make a stand as the Body of Christ.  We must stand, in all things, for Biblical Truth.  For far to long, we have gone with everybody being "Politically Correct".  It is time to bring Godly, Biblical morals back into this nation and back into our lives, or as we have seen in the past, we will fall!  For compromise has no place when it comes to Biblical Truth.  It is the rule book of God, set in place for us to follow.  It is to help guide and protect us, not to harm us.  We must guard ourselves with it in all we do. So that we may bring Him Glory!

As always, your comments and suggestions are always welcome.

God Bless,
